Gail was our first employee. She joined us shortly after completing the Business Administration program at the New Brunswick Community College.
At that time she handled everything in the office from sending faxes to helping people cut through the complexities of their personal financial difficulties.
Gail is a “people person” and spends most of her time conducting the financial counselling sessions required by the Bankruptcy Act. As well as being a qualified counsellor she is a qualified Insolvency Administrator having completed the CAIRP certification program.
Gail is very cheerful and is often caught singing in the office.
Karen St. Onge
Karen joined Grant Thornton Poirier Limited (then A.C. Poirier & Associates Inc.) in 2000. While she has worked in most areas of our practice, she is now our estate bookkeeper. In that capacity, she manages most of the accounting functions related to our trust accounts.
Karen has a great sense of humor and can find the lighter side of almost any situation.
Shelley came to us in 2008 and has over 20 years’ experience working in various aspects of insolvency administration. She is a qualified Insolvency Administrator having completed the CAIRP certification program and currently works on file closures.
Heather joined Grant Thornton Limited (then A.C. Poirier and Associates Inc.) in October 2009. She came to us with over 15 years’ experience in personal bankruptcy administration and currently prepares discharge applications.
Heather is registered as an Insolvency Counsellor with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and is a qualified Insolvency Administrator having completed the CAIRP qualification program.
Heather is kind and even tempered. She willingly passes on her knowledge to staff in the office and efficiently manages many competing demands every day.
Sara St. Onge
Sara joined us full time in 2005 after working part-time throughout her high school years. She is currently completing the Business Administration-Accounting program at the New Brunswick Community College. After completing her program at NBCC, Sara plans to finish her undergraduate degree at the University of New Brunswick and hopes to pursue a professional accounting designation.
Sara is very organized and efficient and enjoys being busy.
Denise graduated from the New Brunswick Community College Bilingual Office Management program prior to joining Grant Thornton (formerly A.C. Poirier Limited) in July 2009.
Denise currently administers our consumer bankruptcy files and is fluently bilingual.
Denise is a qualified Insolvency Administrator having completed the CAIRP certification program.
Denise is outgoing, likes to be busy and always ready to help others.
Sandra joined Grant Thornton Limited (then A.C. Poirier & Associates Inc.) in 2002 which enabled her to return from Toronto to her beloved Saint John. Prior to joining us Sandra worked for 7 years in the head office of a major CA firm.
Since joining us, Sandra has worked as a bankruptcy administrator in our consumer bankruptcy practice, for several years she was our receptionist and switch board operator and has worked in preparing court documents and file closures. She is now the go-to person for Investments for the HUB.
Sandra has a good sense of humor and a willing attitude. When she’s not at work Sandra loves spending time with her family and riding her motorcycle.
Shannon joined Grant Thornton Limited after graduating from the Business Administration – Accounting Program at NBCC in 2010. Prior to returning to school, Shannon worked for more than 10 years in Retail Management.
When you call or visit our office Shannon will be one of people with whom you’d speak to concerning your situation. She will determine what options are available to you and put at ease any questions that you may have.
Shannon is registered as an Insolvency Counsellor with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and is currently registered in the Insolvency Administrators Program with CAIRP.
Judy has come to us with over 30 years’ experience, working with the media as an Office Clerk, doing various duties in the Accounts Receivable and Billing departments.
She had also volunteered for the Empty Stocking Fund since 1976, doing various duties, including coordinating over 40 volunteers for the annual broadcast. Judy currently works in our Surplus department
Judy welcomes all duties with a positive attitude and has enjoyed learning the bankruptcy world.
Kathy joined Grant Thornton Limited (then A.C. Poirier & Associates Inc.) in November of 2011. Kathy came to us with close to 20 years’ experience in the service industry, working mostly in client service. Currently, Kathy administers our consumer proposal files and is one of your first contacts with us when you have questions about your proposal. She is a Commissioner of Oaths in New Brunswick and a qualified Insolvency Administrator having completed the CAIRP Insolvency Administration Course. She is also currently enrolled in the CAIRP Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Course

Dana Abou El Niaj
Dana has been with Grant Thornton for 5 years and is currently in the 170’s department helping evaluating files for discharge. She is a certified insolvency counsellor and a Commissioner of Oaths in New Brunswick and is a qualified Insolvency Administrator having completed the CAIRP Insolvency Administration Course.
Dana is fast paced, fun spirited and always ready to get the job done.
Barb joined Grant Thornton Limited (then A.C. Poirier & Associates) in January of 2013 with 35 years of office administrative experience.
Barb is a friendly and inviting person that answers your calls and greets you in person when you visit our office.
She is always happy to make sure you calls are answered and get directed to the right person.
Todd came to Grant Thornton Limited in October 2012, with over fifteen years of administrative experience, as well as more than a decade of experience in customer service. He possesses university-level certifications in Public Administration and Human Resources Management.
Since joining our team, Todd has enjoyed learning various aspects of our operation, and in 2014 he became the inaugural member of our Claims and Notifications department. He is also a Commissioner of Oaths in the Province of New Brunswick. Todd’s thorough attention to detail, empathetic attitude, and natural desire to contribute to our overall success have made him a valuable member of our organization.
Todd’s reserved nature and diplomatic demeanour belie his dry, quirky sense of humour, and he loves to keep us entertained with his encyclopedic knowledge of rock music and immense repertoire of pop culture quotes and references. In his spare time, he likes playing drums, listening to music, writing, reading, and indulging his youthful enjoyment of science fiction.
Edward started with Grant Thornton in October 2013 with over 8 years of customer service experience.
Edward is bilingual in both official languages. He has graduated from the New Brunswick Community College in the Business Administration Accounting program and from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelors Degree of Applied Management in Accounting. He has successfully completed the Insolvency Administrators Program with CAIRP and is currently enrolled in the Councilor Program with CAIRP. He aspires to become a Licensed Insolvency Trustee.
Sonia joined us in 2006 after graduating from the Business Administration program (Accounting) at the New Brunswick Community College in Saint John. Sonia has successfully completed the CAIRP Insolvency Administration Course, the ICQC (Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Course), she is a Commissioner of Oaths in New Brunswick, and is currently enrolled in the CIRP (Chartered Insolvency & Restructuring Professional Qualification Program).
Sonia has been involved in virtually all aspects of our consumer bankruptcy practice and is currently responsible for managing the surplus department, 170 department, and the expedited mediation process.
Sonia has a very sunny personality and wants everyone who deals with her to feel appreciated and respected.
Tina has been with us for over 5 years and helps people find their fresh start with a bright smile and a compassionate understanding of each person’s situation.
She is a resident jack of all trades with a focus on consumer proposals and conducting counselling sessions. She enjoys these roles because as she gets to see firsthand the difference she can make in a person’s life.
She is a registered Insolvency Counsellor, a Commissioner of Oaths in New Brunswick, fully bilingual and she is a qualified Insolvency Administrator having completed the CAIRP Insolvency Administration Course.
Leah has been with Grant Thornton Ltd. for approximately 5 years and is currently working in the 170s department helping evaluate files for discharge. She is a Commissioner of Oaths in the Province of New Brunswick and recently completed the CAIRP Insolvency Administrators course.
Leah is part of our social committee and enjoys planning events and festivities to help make each day brighter.
Amanda started working for Grant Thornton Limited in 2012. She is fluently bilingual and has many years behind her in customer service. She has her Commissioners of Oaths for the Province of New Brunswick, has completed the Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Course, and is currently in the process of completing the CAIRP - Insolvency Administration Course.
She is up-beat and professional and will walk you through the process of gathering information on a Bankruptcy, or Consumer Proposal, while helping you determine the best option for you.
Kristy joined us after completing the Office Administration Executive program at the New Brunswick Community College in Saint John. She came to us with nine years customer service experience working within a medical office.
Kristy is a Level 1 firefighter and volunteers at a local fire department in her spare time. She is responsible for all of their administrative needs and assists in fundraising efforts. She is very outgoing, pleasant and takes pride in her work.
Kristy is a pleasure to have in the office and is always willing to lend a hand.
Sophie joined us after graduating from NBCC Environmental Technology and brings with her four years of experience in customer service and management.
Sophie is registered as an Insolvency Counsellor with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and is a qualified Insolvency Administrator having completed the CAIRP Insolvency Administration Course. She is also a Commissioner of Oaths in New Brunswick.
Currently, Sophie administers our consumer bankruptcy files. She is fluently bilingual, outgoing and always ready to help. She is a bight ray of sunshine on a cloudy day!
Sarah joined Grant Thornton Limited in July 2014. She is a native of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, and is fluently bilingual. She is a Qualified Insolvency Counsellor, and a Chartered Insolvency Restructuring Professional, with the goal of attaining accreditation as a licensed insolvency trustee.
Sarah manages our Grand Falls office, while frequently travelling to our Edmundston, Woodstock, and Bathurst offices to assist individuals who are seeking help with their financial difficulties.
Sarah completed a Bachelor of Commerce, with a major in accounting at Saint Mary’s University in 2001, and accreditation as a Chartered Accountant in 2003. She worked for a national accounting firm for three years before returning to Grand Falls to manage a family-owned seed potato operation. After selling the family business in 2013, Sarah set her sights on a career where she could leverage her passion for financial counseling.
When not at work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children, coaching mini-basketball and participating in triathlons.
Christy joined us in August 2014. She has experience in court proceedings and documentation, bankruptcy discharges and student loan court applications. She now administers our consumer bankruptcy files and is one of your first contacts when you have questions about your bankruptcy. She came to us with over 10 years administrative and customer service experience.
She is currently enrolled in the CAIRP Insolvency Administrators course.
Amanda joined Grant Thornton in January 2014 as a part of her on-the-job training for NBCC. She graduated with honors from the Executive Office Administration program and was officially hired 6 weeks later. Her organizational skills and willingness to learn make her an important part of the Claims & Notifications department. She has over 10 years of customer service experience as well as a never ending knowledge of Harry Potter trivia.
In her free time, Amanda loves to read, watch movies, and sing.
Amanda started with Grant Thornton in November of 2016. She has almost 10 years of experience in the insolvency field. She has successfully completed the Insolvency Administration Course and the Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Course.
She is currently working in the Moncton office. Amanda is fluently bilingual and spends most of her day assisting people by telephone and in person who are seeking options to their financial difficulties.
Amy joined Grant Thornton Limited in November 2013, bringing with her over a decade of experience in the customer service field. Her thoroughness and strong organizational skills enabled her to work extremely well with our filing system and she has now moved on to handle with the preparation of all new files coming in. Friendly and helpful, she always does her best to assist with our office’s smooth operation. In her spare time, Amy enjoys travelling and socializing with her friends and family.
Beverly started with Grant Thornton in December 2014. She joins us with many years of customer service experience.
Since joining, Beverly has worked in the Proposal Department, Surplus Department and now the 170 Group.
Bonnie joined Grant Thornton in October 2016 after relocating to Saint John from Halifax, Nova Scotia where she gained two years’ experience administrating bankruptcy files within a small family owned firm. Prior to this, she has over 10 years’ experience in customer focused positions.
She holds a Bachelor of Management and Organization Studies (Finance and Administration) from the University of Western Ontario and a Project Management certificate from the University of Toronto.
She currently works in our Proposal Hub Department creating Interim Distributions to creditors and completing Final Statements of Receipts and Disbursements for file closures across the Country.
Candace joined Grant Thornton in November 2016 after returning home to Saint John after living in Ontario and South Korea. Candace brings with her over 15 years’ experience in accounting, logistics and customer service. She is currently working with the surplus team and is enjoying learning this fascinating industry.
Chelsey joined the Grant Thornton team in January 2016, working as part of the surplus department. She has since moved to the Proposal department of the Hub in the fall of 2016. She brings with her over a decade of customer service experience.
Chelsey has a passion for helping animals and enjoys volunteering with a Rescue group called “Transporters without Borders”.
Emily joined Grant Thornton Limited in December 2013, after completing the Human Services Program at the New Brunswick Community College. She brings with her 5 years of customer service experience.
She started as one of our receptionists and is now currently working in the File Input Department, preparing all legal documentation for new files.
Emily is fluently bilingual and enjoys helping out in the office any way she can.
Allie started with Grant Thornton in August 2015. She Graduated from UNBSJ with a major in Psychology. She joins us with over 10 years of experience in customer service, including financial institutions. She has her Commissioners of Oaths for the Province of New Brunswick and has completed the Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Course.
She spends most of her time meeting with people over the phone or in person to discuss their financial situation. She is always willing to listen and help walk you through your options.
Emily joined Grant Thornton Limited in June 2014, after completing the Accounting Technology course at the Holland College. She brings wither her 9 years of customer service experience.
Emily is registered as an Insolvency Counsellor with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and has successfully completed the CAIRP Insolvency Administration Course. She also has her Commissioner of Oaths in Prince Edward Island.
Emily is working in the Charlottetown office full time where she greets and assists client with questions. Twice a week she takes appointments to conduct the financial counselling sessions required by the Bankruptcy Act. She is also part of the Input Department preparing legal documents.
Jessica joined us in 2013 after completing the Human Services Program at New Brunswick Community College here in Saint John.
She brings 4 years of customer service, and is now working in our Court department.
Jessica joined Grant Thornton in March 2015 as part of the Surplus Income department and she’s also been a part of the Bankruptcy Administration department. Currently, she spends her time dealing with people face to face or over the phone to help assist them in making the right decision towards their fresh start.
Prior to this, she was a very active member of society. Engaged in multiple volunteer groups and activism, she has always worked hard at being a good person and helping others.
She has a passion for people, animals, and all other living things. A dedicated hard worker, Jessica has great attention to detail, and is always willing to lend an ear to those in need.
Jessica is fluently bilingual in English and French, and attended Acadia University as a Philosophy major.
Karen joined Grant Thornton in Sept /2014 and came with over 30 years of customer service. She is currently working in the claims and notification dept., posting claims and other administrative duties.
Karen is very easy going, and always has a positive attitude. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, and socializing with her friends.
Ken joined Grant Thornton Limited in February 2016 after working the prior twelve years with PricewatehouseCoopers Inc. as an Estate Manager in their Moncton office. Ken has completed the Insolvency Administrator’s Course and the Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Course. He is fluently bilingual.
Nuala Reilly is an Ontario to Maritimes transplant with over 15 years in customer service including just over 5 years as an adult employment liaison and counsellor for Employment Ontario. In addition to her professional work, Nuala is also a published author with four books and over 50 articles to her name.
Nuala has a great love of theatre, public speaking and has a great sense of humour.
She is currently a member of the fabulous surplus team and is working towards becoming bilingual.
Rachel started working for Grant Thornton in May of 2015 after graduating from the University of New Brunswick Saint John with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Accounting.
Since working here Rachel has worked in the surplus income department and is now working in the income tax department. She is also currently enrolled in the Insolvency Counsellor course.
Randy joined Grant Thornton in October, 2015 and worked as a file clerk while backing up the person responsible for sending out Creditor packages.
In January, 2016, Randy joined the Claims and Notifications department where his administrative duties keep him quite busy. He is ready and willing to assist any department in need.
Randy has many years of experience in the Records Management and Administration field. He enjoys coming into a workplace with such a happy environment.
Samira joined Grant Thornton Limited in 2016 during the tax season. She primarily worked here in a temporary full-time position. After a wonderful cooperation with GT in the tax season, she would have liked to continue this relationship.
Thus, she applied for a permanent full-time position in Sep 2016. Now, she is working in the input department.
Vicky joined Grant Thornton in 2015 and is currently working as an Assistant Estate Administrator in the Claims and Notification group handling both secured and unsecured claims. She comes to us after 8 years working in customer service and 7 years in credit/finance for a large organization.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and cheering on her favourite sports teams.
Cynthia joined our office in 2011 with 6 years of customer service experience. She has experience in many departments but is currently working in the bankruptcy administration as an administrator.
